Object or subject, René Lalique's fashionings of the female form sought to be both. Lalique's genius balanced delicate reflections and flush crystal to achieve the aim of creating worthy testaments to feminine beauty. His talent for imitating the perfection in nature, whether it be fauna and flora, was such a success that almost every plant or animal was a good subject. Whether pursuing realism or sometimes pushing style, nature was a dependable Muse upon which the Lalique identity heavily relied on. And as if it was not enough, Lilaque's pieces are in themselves testimonies to the marriage of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
